I was wary of paying about twice as much as I am used to paying for a hat but had looked for a linen safari-style fedora for a long time before having found this one, so I thought I'd take a chance on it and I am very glad that I did.

It is every bit as lightweight and comfortable as one would expect for a linen hat to be but it is also very tough and resilient. As soon as I took this hat out of the shipping box that it arrived in, I crushed it, rolled it up and stuffed it into a pocket; then I removed it, popped it back into shape and tried it on.

It does not run true to size. A size "XL" in most hat brands fits a (i.e. "my") size 7 5/8 cranium snugly but this hat had enough extra headroom that I was able to fit a rolled-up standard 18" square cotton bandana into the inner band, which made it fit me perfectly. It should fit a size 7 3/4 very nicely without alteration or modification.

I then rolled the hat up again, stuffed it back into my pocket and rode to a nearby tavern, where I again popped it into shape and wore it into the pub for a late brunch and a couple of brews; literally everyone who spoke to me complimented this hat.

I like the Tommy Bahama Linen Safari Hat. I like it a lot. If it had fit properly, I would have given it five stars.
