It was difficult to find black dresses for my daughters, ages 4 and 7, for a funeral. All the ones I have seen were made of a casual cotton material or a sheer party dress material, neither of which was appropriate for the occasion. The material on this dress is strong and simply elegant. Although the material is thick and the dress also has a lining, it could probably still work for the summer since it is a knee length dress and has short sleeves. When we used it, the weather was cooler, so I had the girls wear cream cardigans and tights and black wool coats and black shoes. The fit worked for both our girls, one which is a fatty and the other which is stick skinny. The sizing seems accurate. The dress is conservative, yet has an elegant design. It reminds me of womens' one piece suiting with a sweet appeal.
