I just bought the Tilley Winter Hat and after testing it this week in Detroit (low 20's, brisk wind), I love it. I searched online quite a while before finding it. My needs are quite specific. I need a hat that fits my size 8 head, that doesn't mess up my hair like a stocking cap does, that keeps my ears warm, looks great, packs well in my suitcase, and above all is comfortable. The Tilley Winter Hat is perfect. I have two other Tilleys and love them both. I didn't realize that Tilley made a winter hat or my search would have been over much sooner.

One caveat: Measure your hat size carefully and then buy one size larger. That's because the Tilley has a pull-down flap for the ears, plus another for the forehead that I don't use. The flaps fold down over the sweatband, making the hat smaller. Actually, this is an excellent design. As the wind picks up, your ears need protection, and with the flaps down, the fit is snugger without being uncomfortable, and it's less likely to fly away.

Please note that I added "for men" to the title of my review, but Tilley makes hats in huge range of sizes, so women can wear this hat too. You might have to go to their web site to find your size, though.
